Waiting rooms turning into Meditating RoomsPublished by Nitin_shah on 2008/1/12 (147 reads)One Oregon woman is turning waiting rooms across the country into MEDITATING rooms as part of the national Don’t Wait—Meditate™ campaign of the Meditation Challenge. “The goal of the Meditation Challenge is to help 100,000 people develop the habit of meditation,” says author/speaker and founder, Lisa Hepner. “The Meditation Challenge ‘challenges’ people to make meditation a habit in their daily lives. Because the truth is that while most people are aware of the benefits of meditation, MOST people do not have a regular meditation practice.”
”I have found that the biggest obstacle people face in developing a regular meditation practice is TIME,” says Hepner. “They say they don’t have enough time to meditate. Yet the average American spends 42-60 minutes a day waiting! Precious time is spent waiting for an appointment or for a computer program to download or waiting in line at the grocery store or in traffic!” What if that precious time normally spent waiting could be used for meditating? The Don’t Wait—Meditate ™ campaign challenges people to convert waiting time into meditating time. And Hepner is taking her campaign to places where people wait the most—doctor’s offices! Hepner is approaching holistic centers across the U.S. to participate in the national Don’t Wait—Meditate™ campaign. So far over a dozen clinics throughout the U.S. are participating. And more are expected to follow suit! Participating holistic centers receive flyers (branded with their clinic’s information) that look like magazines to put in their waiting rooms along with the other magazines. Most people while waiting for an appointment will look to the magazine area for something to fill the time. However, at participating clinics they will find a flyer that includes tips they can use to meditate while they are waiting. Then they are invited to go to a special web page and sign the “official” Don’t Wait—Meditate™ pledge. Once they do this, they receive FREE pod casts (audio recordings) explaining various meditation techniques they can use while waiting along with a special report on the common misconceptions of meditation. They are also given the opportunity to receive live meditation instruction for 21 days from the comfort of their own home to really develop the habit of meditation! If one person, at a time, can commit to turning their waiting time into meditating time, he/she would experience immediate, beneficial results. When you convert your waiting time into meditating time, you don’t mind waiting! People from all across the globe have committed to convert waiting time into meditating time. The goal is to help 100,000 people develop the habit of meditation by providing simple, free or low cost resources that are accessible to all!
