If Your Life Stinks, It's Probably Because Your Friends StinkPublished by Nitin_shah on 2007/12/31 (145 reads)Have you ever paid attention to what happens when you get a group of positive-minded people together? And if you bring together a group of people with negative attitudes, chances are, you will see the exact opposite effects. The attitude, the mindset, and the overall personality of your friends, your co-workers, and everyone else you allow yourself to be associated with have a direct influence on your own behavior and way of thinking. Whether you realize it or not, the people around you make you who you are.
Just the other day, a client of mine told me about a guy who came by her office for lunch. For years, the guy had been struggling with his marriage and going nowhere in his career. Well, during this encounter, he complained to my client about his wife, he moaned about his boss, he even whined about his lunch as they ate! After that meeting, my client said she had a very unproductive afternoon and ended the day in a sour mood. The negative energy she took on from her coworker had a direct influence on her own attitude! Positive-minded people, on the other hand, are uplifting, encouraging others to enjoy their happiness and success. Consider Robert Kysoki’s comments in “Rich Dad, Poor Dad.” He said “Your income is the average of the 5 closest people to you.” Now, really think about that statement. How often do you see a wealthy, affluent couple having dinner with their lower class friends? Or a couple of businessmen playing golf with their unemployed, financially unstable buddies? It's not to say that anyone is "better" that anyone else. Nor am I implying that finacially astute people don't have friends that aren't. It's that they don't spend a lot of time with them. Let’s extend that even further because the law of attraction applies to much more than wealth and social status. Those concerned about the environment tend to spend their time with other earth-friendly individuals. Health conscience people usually surround themselves with those who share their values. So, if your income is the average of your 5 closest friends, don’t you think it would be safe to say that every other aspect of your life is an average of those around you as well? Your relationships, your career, your happiness, your success - everything you do is directly influenced by the people you surround yourself with. Those who lead successful, happy lives have successful, happy friends. Positive-minded people can make things happen, especially when they join together. The energy of positive thinking can even create the opportunities needed to push you ahead, in whatever area of your life. Take the time to seek out like-minded people this year. Experience the power of how positive-minded people will impact your life. Your own positive energy and ambitious attitude, combined with hundreds of others who share that mindset, can make something remarkable happen!
