Limiting Beliefs Equal Limited Success

Published by Anonymous on 2007/10/16 (88 reads)
Most of us have beliefs that limit us in our personal development. These limiting beliefs also limit our successes in life. We gather these wrong beliefs by the messages we received when we were young. Unfortunately, these messages probably came from people who cared about us and just wanted to protect us. Maybe you were discouraged from pursuing a particular talent because those people in charge of your life thought you needed something more practical. They probably told you that their version of how things should be was safer. It made you afraid to take a chance and you buried your talents. Just like a lot of people, you took these things inside and they became what you truly believe about yourself and your potential.

So, were these things really true? That teacher who told you that you really didn't have a talent for art could have been right. Do you think that's true? How would they know? You spend more time with you than anyone else ever will. You know your talents and dreams. Maybe your sister made fun of your poems when you were growing up. Maybe when you were little you weren't good at it. But a child's poetry and an adult's inspiration to write verse are usually greatly different. Only you can know if this is still true of your talent. Have you tried? If you believe you can, this provides a foundation for the rest of your life.

I have a news flash. You are the one in charge of your life now. You are not responsible for the way you were raised. You are responsible for what you do now. Someone told you that you would not succeed at something. They convinced you that you do not have the "right stuff" to do something grand. Are you going to take that? You don't have to anymore.
